Timbercon Loopbacks
LoopbacksTimbercon loopbacks are designed and manufactured to provide a cost effective and easy to use method of testing a wide variety of equipment, systems, and networks, while maintaining performance and durability. The Armadillo optical loopback, released in 2001, has become the industry standard in protected optical loopbacks. It was designed with input from ESS Test and Component engineers from around the country, and features a hard protective shell that encases and protects the fiber portion of the loopback. Ergonomically designed for ease of use, it can be color coded to indicate fiber size or attenuation. Loopbacks can be used for a multitude of testing, diagnostics and measurement applications from single port testing to board, hub and system level testing. Timbercon loopbacks are designed and manufactured to provide a cost effective and easy to use method for a variety of testing, diagnostics and measurement applications, from single port testing to board, hub and system level testing. Timbercon Loopbacks, can also be called Loopback Plugs, Loopback Adapters, or Loopback Cables. Electric Loopbacks are an addition to the company's Armadillo optical product lines. Electrical Loopbacks, whether HSSDC2, SFP, or XFP, loop a signal from the transmit side of a port to the receive side, simulating a complete connection. In addition, serial communication interface to digital diagnostics, pre-loaded EEPROM memory, and LEDs can allow for quick and visible performance indication. Loopback TestingA Loopback is diagnostic procedure in which a signal is transmitted and returned to the sending device after passing through all or a portion of a network or circuit. The returned signal is compared with the transmitted signal in order to evaluate the integrity of the equipment or transmission path. A Timbercon Loopback that is inserted into a port can perform a loopback test without the hassel of a length of cable, or the expense of a transceiver, providing a cost-effective, high speed solution for testing applications, with hot swap ability for zero system down time, and for ease of removal. Typical applications include device failure testing, multiple distances loss testing, and applications in which the precise attenuation requirement is unknown.
